Welcome, before you can take your journey into the inner workings of my thoughts and hopefully gain something useful let me first explain where you are…
“a guide by Granit Abazi explaining the jargon-filled world of Politics in everyday language”
Who are you?
I could answer your question with one of my own; “does that really matter?”. Yet this doesn’t really seem like a great way to portray myself as one of the good guys so I have to tell you more about myself. I’ve been interested generally in politics from a young age, it does sound a little cliché but I’ve wanted to understand why things happen and because of who. You could say I like politics so much due to the fact that I’ve decided to shell out £9000 for every year that I spend at university studying it. But lets make two things clear here;
- I’m not one of those people that is going to throw a database of facts at your head, and that doesn’t mean that I’m here to purposely lie.
- Politics is one of those weird things right, it may be seen as the sort of thing that the everyday man on the street doesn’t get involved in. Just because I study Politics, it does not make my opinion more valid than yours, don’t use me as your Jesus or Moses. Criticise me, agree with me and debate with me to find the opinion that is personal to you.
So all our opinions matter the same, why then does this blog exist as a podium for your thoughts?
Yeah you are probably thinking this too, I don’t blame you. After all, most inventions or ideas come about as a means to solve something that was previously missing or lacking, lets call this a niche or ‘gap in the market’.
I sit at home sometimes and I am trying my hardest to understand something yet still cant quite wrap my head around it. That gets me thinking, if I as a Politics student don’t understand something about the very thing that rules our lives then no wonder people switch off the second they heard the word politi..zzzzz
First of all this is a guide, I try and emphasise how important it is that you understand this before you carry on reading. I set out to try and explain things, and offer my own personal insight in the hope that it will enlighten someone. I might not be able to turn water into wine but I can teach you a thing or two about bankers greed. There will be things that you may not agree with and thats fine, I don’t agree with you so lets move on.
Secondly, I have grown tired and to be quite frank pissed off with overbearing bias in todays lives. There are not many things that annoy me more than partial truth-telling in order to convince someone. I know I am not a superhero and can’t change the world, but I want all of you; whether you read one post and hate me, or keep coming back time and time again to evolve. I want you to become something called ‘critical thinkers’ STOP accepting everything being spoon-fed into your heads, and start weighing up pros and cons. Look at what you are being told, who is telling you it and the motivations for telling you. If you arrive at a different conclusion than me then GREAT!
I don’t care what conclusion you arrive at, I just want the process as to how you constructed your opinion to be thoughtful.
What I want from you
To be honest I know you all have busy lives and I understand that, but this is a bullet point list of what I’d love my readers to do;
- Keep an open mind, its not embarrasing to change your opinion
- Be ready and willing to think independently
- Never trust anybody unconditionally, not even me
- Message me if there are things you loved in the blog/want me to include more of
- Even more importantly, message me ways I could improve
- Share my blog if you think it will help others and is useful
- Don’t message me trying to include your biased agendas
- Definitely message me to suggest issues/events that I should cover next
Okay I’ll stop now and let you get to the actual good parts. Contact me below if you need anything extra.
Thank-you
